• It's fairly simple: Don't be a dumbass.

Of course, people disagree on what that means, so we're going to clear up a few basics around here:

    - Respect others time and person. We don't care what walk of life you're from or any personal choices you make in that life. We merely ask you act kindly and respectfully towards each other.
    - We will not discuss personal religion or politics. This seems to always lead to a fight.
    - No self advertising, without express permission from the admins.
    - Keep topics on topic.

In the end, there are probably more specific rules that need to be written, but in general don't be a dumbass pretty much encompasses everything that needs to be said.

Future Nintendo Technology (Switch 2)

What launch games or series are we hoping to be as a launch title? I know Zelda, Mario, and Kirby are big ones, but what are some lesser known series do we want back? I know Star Fox would be one of mine, but I'm unsure what they would even do for the story.
Xenoblade trilogy remastered
Persona 6
Metaphor
Zelda 1 remake
New Starfy game (HOPIUM)
The world ends with you 3 (HOPIUM)
Xenoblade 4
Splatoon Legends
Splatoon 4
Xenoblade Legends
Zelda souls like spinoff
Mario galaxy 3
Metroid 6
Skyward sword remake
Twilight princess remake
Oot remake
Mario 64ds remake
Mario warriors
Smash bros but in 3d with a story
Smash 6
Zelda warriors for totk

I would like Switch 2 to release early Spring. I think at launch day it will be Mario Kart with some silly tech demo game. I think 3D Mario will be the holiday game. During the launch window I would not mind Twilight Princess/Windwaker UHD coming out late Summer. I hope Capcom at least has RE2 Remake launch day and Street Fighter 6. Within the first year they can add in RE3, RE4 Remakes, RE7 and Village. Rockstar bring over GTA 4 at launch and 5 during the year. I think GTA6 is getting pushed to 2026.

View attachment 3so now they are saying may or June is the "fastest time" but who is this person?
So if you pay attention to their channel earlier this year, they were already wrong about some stuff they claimed to have known. It's important to remain very skeptical that they have any source at all. I think a trap happens when we see a Chinese source - because they are much closer to where manufacturing happens we just assume they are connected. This would be like assuming because I am in the US, I obviously have a direct source at Retro Studios for Metroid Prime 4.

Of course I don't.

These images as an example - do we even know they originated from him? No. Could have been some other social media or forum in china we're not paying attention too. Point is, I would say he's as reliable as any youtuber claiming to know stuff that has no track record. As in, not very.

Astral Chain 2, calling it now, I think it'll be a year 1 title, or at most first 18 months 🤞

I'm so curious what the launch title could be if it's not 3D Mario, Zelda, or Mario Kart.

Luigi's Mansion 4?
Star Fox?
Animal Crossing?
Fire Emblem?

What do you think?

I find it so hard to imagine it won't be 3D Mario, but if it really isn't, then I can only imagine it being some new thing like Nintendo Land was, or maybe even Nintendo Land 2.
But even then it wouldn't be alone, it would then have to be alongside something established and successful like Luigi's Mansion for example like you said. Maybe a new DK! Maybe it'll even be 3D!

But honestly I feel like it's 99% going to 3D Mario (unless there's evidence against it that I'm not aware of? 👀)

No, you're right. 3D Mario is the obvious answer but if they release the system in the Spring but want to save Mario for the Fall...then...? 🤔

Mario Kart people go crazy for Mario Kart. I would save 3D Mario for the holiday for that next big push.

Reminder of the current known specs for the T239:

1733211656271.png

The GPU is actually a bit of Ampere, and a bit of Ada Lovelace, using Ampere Silicon and Optical Flow Acceleration, but using Ada back ports of NvEnc and Clock Gating. Additionally, there is a File Decompression Engine embedded in the SOC, along with 4 PCI Express Controllers and up to HDMI 2.1-Level video output bandwidth. All of this has been confirmed by the NVIDIA leak.

Shipping data, meanwhile, has confirmed that we will be getting 12GB of LPDDR5X running at 7600 MT/s, which, when paired with the 128-bit bandwidth, should mean up to 121.6GB/s when docked, which is an 18% uplift in memory bandwidth from the previously speculated 6400 MT/s speeds, that otherwise would have resulted in 102.4GB/s in max memory bandwidth. Know that handheld mode will likely underclock the RAM in order to prioritize battery life.

One current concern, per Digital Foundry, is that 48 Tensor cores may not be enough for some games to upscale to 4K without some compromises. Meaning that we probably should not be expecting 4K @ 60FPS in most games, and some games may not look particularly great in terms of fidelity when DLSS is trying to upscale to such a resolution, as they may be trying to upscale from as low as 720p. Additionally, a "source" had reached out to Digital Foundry, and confirmed with them that there is no Deep Learning Accelerator in the T239, so DLSS won't have any kind of accelerator to boost its capabilities. Therefore, temper your expectations for now, but know that 1080p should still look pretty clean for the most part, and visual fidelity should be able to reach, and in some cases, even surpass that of the PS4, with a potentially massive boost in fidelity and/or frame rate when docked.

For Ray Tracing, there will only be 12 RT cores, so don't expect too much beyond ray-traced shadows and maybe some lightly ray-traced lighting.

One current big unknown is the frequency of both, the CPU and GPU. It's hard to find specific performance metrics for the Cortex A78C, but it comes in 6-Core and 8-Core configurations, with varying frequencies. I was able to find information on a 6-Core version used in Qualcomm's Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2. Bear in mind, however, that this could also be a custom version of the chip, and below is only to showcase some possibilities. The Switch 2 will use an 8-Core configuration, but I have yet to find any information on an SOC that uses an 8-Core model. As for GPU frequency, there is virtually no data that we can currently extrapolate on.

Let me know if I'm missing anything, or if any of this information is incorrect.

Expecting a PS4 Pro "plus" in dock mode.
PS4 performance as an handheld device.

Pretty much. And honestly, that is no bad thing. There are a good number of PS4 games that look pretty damn clean in terms of visuals! And being able to potentially hit PS4 Pro performance when docked would just be icing on the cake!

The switch always feel like a companion console to go with your beefy pc, the switch 2 will probably be no different.
