New Patent Seemingly Confirms Nvidia 4K AI Upscaling For Switch 2
DLSS has been mentioned in past reports

Yeah overhyping has been a major problem with nintendo fan for a long while now even a 10/10 game like Super mario wonder still has people whine" but its not 11/10!!!!!!!"I just want to make an overall post here about this forum and switch 2 hardware. In reference to the forum, I know it’s in its infancy, but I would love to see it grow into something great. I’ve been a member of neogaf, reset era, and now famiboards. They are all the same, imo. Famiboards might be the worst. They have such an ego and bias on anything that doesn’t originate for their “tech experts” and insiders, it’s disgusting. In regards to switch 2 hardware, I believe Nintendo releasing basically a supped up PS4 pro isn’t bad. That’s the power level I’m putting the console at. Anything beyond that is even better. I think Nintendo has been behind the power curve for so long that some fans are hyping and putting this hardware beyond what it will be able to perform. This will lead to disappointment, fanboyism, and negative comments for years to come. We shall know soon enough.
Specifically, the power speculation prior to system release. There are people out there now stating this console is going to out perform Series S and it’s not debatable. Some even say it will perform the same as Series X and PS5. “It’s a 9th gen console.” I believe stating these things as a fact will only lead to disappointment. Also, a lot of fanboys will be watching and waiting for anything they can use to throw dirt on the performance. It’s just silly all around to me.Yeah overhyping has been a major problem with nintendo fan for a long while now even a 10/10 game like Super mario wonder still has people whine" but its not 11/10!!!!!!!"
Welcome to the boards. Hopefully they do eventually slowly grow.Specifically, the power speculation prior to system release. my best case scenario is a supped up PS4 pro. That is not because of raw horsepower but modern architecture.Welcome to the boards. Hopefully they do eventually slowly grow.
That being said, I am not sure where they are getting it will blown the Series S out of the water from. That seems highly unrealistic. It potentially may have games look a little better due to superior upscaling tech, but beyond that it can't sniff the top end systems.
Also, and I have said this before and will keep saying it - Switch 2 will be the first 10th generation console. Switch came out in 2017, FIVE years after the 8th generation began with Wii U. (okay it's not really 5, it's like 4 and some change). PS5/Xbox Series launched in 2020. As of today in 2025, Nintendo Switch is still their lead platform - it has now existed alongside PS5/Xbox Series longer than it had the prior systems. It also launched AFTER their mid gen refreshes did. Meaning it launched well after the middle of the generation.
Setting that aside, the 3DS is also an 8th generation system - and thus it can be argued that was the actual beginning of the 8th generation - launching in 2011. However, the 3DS's inclusion in the 8th generation is literally not up for debate by any sector of gaming fan.
This matters, as generations are often defined not only with the release of new platforms, but new features/power boosts as well.
With 3DS launching in 2011 and Switch in 2017 - that is a full 6 years - as in a traditional console cycle. Why does this matter for placement? Because Switch uses mobile technology, it is also a successor to the 3DS, not just the Wii U. While the system is more powerful than a Wii U, it's true champion for 9th generation is that it is one of the largest generational leaps for a handheld ever coming from 3DS.
Believe it or not - no individual platform holder determines when the next generation begins. As an example - PS5 releasing in 2020, same with Xbox, does not mean that's when the generation began. It's just whoever goes first. In this case, it was Nintendo - in 2017. It is not their fault that PS4/Xbox extended their runs without a replacement.
With Switch 2 launching in 2025, during the 5th year of PS5 yet again, and after their midgen refresh yet again, it is very clearly the first generation 10 device.
The reason console warriors don't like this argument is because of power approximations. But power approximations are literally not the determining factor of gens.
