• It's fairly simple: Don't be a dumbass.

Of course, people disagree on what that means, so we're going to clear up a few basics around here:

    - Respect others time and person. We don't care what walk of life you're from or any personal choices you make in that life. We merely ask you act kindly and respectfully towards each other.
    - We will not discuss personal religion or politics. This seems to always lead to a fight.
    - No self advertising, without express permission from the admins.
    - Keep topics on topic.

In the end, there are probably more specific rules that need to be written, but in general don't be a dumbass pretty much encompasses everything that needs to be said.

Console modding discussion

The purpose of this thread is to serve as an outlet for discussing and asking questions about modding various Nintendo consoles. For example, the Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Gameboy Advance are very popular systems to modify, especially with back-lit LCDs and rechargeable battery kits. Likewise, systems like the Wii, Wii U and 3DS have means of enabling homebrew, and the GameCube has a variety of devices to help unlock new features.

What type of system mods interest you?

What type of system mods have you personally tried?

What type of system mods would you like to see in the future?

NOTE: While this type of discussion will inevitably lead to the discussion of loading ROMs and backups, DO NOT ask, or tell people where to download them!! ROMs are still largely a gray area, and that discussion has many nuances, especially when talking about a system that is still actively getting support. How you acquire your games is your own business, and your business only!

I have an OLED and I would like to mod it I'm just horrible at soldering and It's uber expensive to get someone to mod it for you, I'm waiting until it's like a software patch or something that you can do just like with the 3ds that I did mod and it was fairly simple enough

That's pretty much the dream with Mariko Switches as a whole, since they overclock better than the first iteration Switches. My own soldering skills are still at novice level, as well. I sometimes get to thinking that maybe I should start training myself with some old circuit boards, but realistically, it's a skill I would be using quite rarely, unless I made a business out of it.

@Diddles, yeah for me it's just time, with a 3ds it only took me about 1 hour to get it modded and playing games, with a switch not so much. The only thing I really want to play on a modded switch would be gamecube games more specifically windwaker because nintendo is taking forever to releasing it
